The acoustic set was a lot of fun. People were enjoying the sing-a-longs and so was Trey.
Funny story: I was standing right next to these two girls who had told me they'd driven down from CANADA to see the show. These girls were pretty loaded and during 'Driver' you can clearly hear one of them yelling obnoxiously through the entire song "YEAH TREY - COME BACK TO CANADA" - which leads to this banter from Trey:
"I would LOVE to come back to Canada - for the person who just said that. It might be a little trickier than....I'm not supposed to go to Canada right now. Sorry...
::laughs - girl keeps shouting::
Yikes....Canada scares me. I like the people. It's those mean, mean folks at the border that don't like me very much these days.
::crowd boos - girl continues to yell::
I'm sure saying that publicly is going to improve my chances. Don't tell anyone I said that, I love the people at the border. It's between me and you. It's our secret
::girl continues to yell as if Trey doesn't want to go to Canada::
I love Canada! Listen, I used to spend every summer for a month and a half in Guelph Ontario from the age of about 12 to 16 playing hockey. at the university of Guelph, you know what I'm talking about? That's before Rock 'n' Roll turned me into a degenerate...and I loved every second of it! Anyway...can't win 'em all." (transcribed from LP Recording)
This show tends to spark conversation on whether or not Trey is allowed into Canada, I think its safe to assume now he is considering they had a date scheduled in 2013 but still he implies there was a time when he could not.
During the 'Down With Disease' our area started singing the solo and it caught on, Trey even did the stop for us at the end before he goes into the final chorus.
'Liquid Time' was performed acoustically with a stripped down version of the band and sounded great. 'Push on Til The Day' absolutely ripped with a full band to the end first set.
The second set is filled with a lot of raging Type-I rock and really driven and focused playing from Trey. All the TAB classics were played well and the newly worked 'Clint Eastwood' cover was certainly a crowd pleaser. The 'Sand' to end the second set was absolute fire. Trey really had a fantastic handle on the flow of the jam. The band follows him so well you almost forget they're there until Natalie and J-Haw come in these beautiful peaks that seem to excite the entire group. This was happening all night but most prominently and satisfyingly in 'Sand' and 'First Tube'. After the second set ends and Trey does the band introductions and thanks the crowd saying it was the best night so far you can hear him exclaim to no one in particular a bit off mic "Fucking Pittsburgh!" in disbelief and then kick into a perfect 'First Tube'. You could tell he'd had a good night.
Once we were leaving the venue that night we saw that Snoop Dogg was playing the next day and tickets were still available, so we ended up raging Snoop Dogg the following night. Both great decisions. Probably one of my funniest back-to-back show combinations I've seen.
