OVERSTEP, NEW STUDIO ALBUM & 2014 TOUR ANNOUNCED
On February 25, 2014, ATO Records will release Mike Gordon’s new studio solo album, Overstep. Overstep is Mike’s fourth solo album, following 2003’s Inside In, 2008’s The Green Sparrow and 2010’s Moss. Beginning today, fans can stream “Ether,” the album’s opening track, at http://mike-gordon.com/audio/overstep-ether. Album pre-order details will be announced shortly.
Mike shared songwriting duties with guitarist and longtime collaborator Scott Murawski and handed over the producing reins for the first time in his solo career, enlisting Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Uncle Tupelo, Pixies). He also invited a few new players into the studio, including legendary drummer Matt Chamberlain (Jon Brion, Fiona Apple).
To celebrate the release of Overstep, Mike’s band will return to the road with a North American tour that will kick off at the Westcott Theatre in Syracuse, NY on February 28. The run will include shows at New York City’s Webster Hall (March 1), the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles (March 17) and the historic Fillmore in San Francisco (March 18) and the band’s first performance in Vancouver, BC, Canada. He’ll be joined on the road by his longtime band – Scott Murawski (guitar), Craig Myers (percussion), Tom Cleary (keyboards) and Todd Isler (drums). The band’s new repertoire will be augmented by hints of secret synesthetic mad scientist gadgetry on and around the stage.
A limited number of tickets are available NOW via a real-time presale at http://tickets.mike-gordon.com/. Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning Friday, December 13, at 10:00 AM ET.
